International welding exhibition Nordic Welding Expo in Tampere in October 2012

PRESS RELEASE 8 February 2012

NEW THEMES: STEEL CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE

Nordic Welding Expo 2012 -exhibition, the largest Nordic exhibition event for welding, cutting and joining, brings together experts of the field in the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre on October 23–25, 2012. The international welding exhibition event provides an extensive overview of the field's latest information and new products, both in the exhibition sections and in seminars and bulletins.

– Nordic Welding Expo 2012 next autumn promises new products and interesting themes, as well as latest information about the development, services and education of the field. The event has become increasingly versatile by the introduction of the new themes, steel construction and maintenance, which bring additional value to the content of the exhibition. NWE is also an important forum for meeting other operators of the field and creating cooperation networks, says Raimo Pylvänäinen, the project manager of Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd.

New standards and challenges of the field are the topical issues of the exhibition

Teräsrakenneyhdistys ry is actively involved in introducing European design and manufacturing standards concerning building business's steel construction to its member companies, Finnish material manufacturers, workshops and consulting firms. Along with NWE's new theme, the organization is visibly involved also in the exhibition.

– For several years efforts have been made to inform companies operating in the building business about the Eurocodes SFS EN 1993 including construction design and the implementation standard SFS EN 1090 designed according to these Eurocodes. At the exhibition we share information about the upcoming changes, the schedule and our willingness to help companies in the practical actions that possibly need to be taken. NWE is a great opportunity to meet operators who are at the commissioning stage of different standards and discuss issues related to the standards and the CE markings of steel components, says Pekka Yrjölä, special technical expert of Teräsrakenneyhdistys ry.

Welding is the connective thread between the exhibition's themes, steel construction, manufacturing techniques and maintenance.

– In manufacturing metal industry, welding and increasing its productivity are in crucial role. Profitability is important in order to keep the production in Finland now as well as in the future. The exhibition offers answers and ideas for current topics, Jouko Lassila, the executive manager of the Welding Society of Finland (WSF), sums up.

Young welders compete for supremacy – distinguished experts of the field are also rewarded at the exhibition

As in the previous years, the Finnish junior championships of welding will be held at the NWE exhibition. The competition is organized for the fifth time and is intended for people under 21 years of age who study in a vocational school and who have recently stepped into the working life.

On the opening day of the exhibition, the Welding Society of Finland once again hands out the Welding Expert of the Year awards to a distinguised company, a research unit and an education organization in the field. Furthermore, WSF rewards the best master's theses of 2010 and 2011 and the best articles in the Hitsaustekniikka magazine.

NWE brings together the experts of the field

The first Nordic Welding Expo -exhibition was organized in Tampere in 2006. Next year will be the fourth time that NWE will be organized. When the exhibition was organized for the previous time in 2010, nearly 80 exhibitors and more than 4200 exhibition guests found their way to the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre. The exhibition is organized by Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd in cooperation with the Welding Society of Finland.
