Subcontracting Trade Fair 26–28 September – still the place to be for industry

This year's international Subcontracting Trade Fair kicked off today in Tampere. Until Thursday 28 September, all five halls at the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre will be filled by over 1,000 exhibitors from more than 20 different countries. The event was opened by Timo Lehtioja, CEO of MSK Group Oy, the partner company for Subcontracting 2017. As part of the opening ceremony, LOGY rewarded John Deere Forestry Oy with the Main Supplier of the Year Award and Oy Darekon Ltd with the Subcontractor of the Year Award. Startups and industrial companies will get together on Tuesday at AlihankintaHEAT where the opening speech was given by Member of Parliament Harri Jaskari. The theme of this year's trade fair is partnership networks. 

International interest in the Subcontracting Trade Fair has increased in recent years. On Wednesday 27 September, the trade fair will be visited by Prince Michael of Kent (UK) together with his business delegation as well as Kaspars Rokens, COO of the Rail Baltica project, who will tell about the business opportunities of the high-speed rail line.

Main Supplier of the Year John Deere Forestry Oy and Subcontractor of the Year Oy Darekon Ltd

The Finnish Association of Purchasing and Logistics (LOGY) rewarded John Deere Forestry Oy with the Main Supplier of the Year Award and Oy Darekon Ltd with the Subcontractor of the Year Award. The awards were received by John Deere Forestry's Managing Director Timo Ylänen and Procurement Director Tarmo Rautiainen and Darekon's CEO Kai Orpo, Supply Chain Director Teppo Pitkänen and Haapavesi Plant Director Antti Järviluoma. The awards were presented by LOGY's Managing Director Markku Henttinen and Tomi Parmasuo, Chairman of LOGY's Award Committee. Presented since 1987, the awards aim to promote competitiveness and networking among the Finnish manufacturing industry.

John Deere Forestry Oy is part of the international Deere & Company organisation. Over 90% of the forestry machines manufactured by John Deere Forestry Oy are exported. Finnish forestry machinery expertise, innovative products and flexible services close to the customers are John Deere Forestry Oy's competitive advantages through which the company has generated jobs in Joensuu and ensured success in a competitive market. Over 50% of the factory's direct purchases come from Finnish suppliers.

According to the award committee, Oy Darekon Ltd has developed their operations and practices with determination, which shows in the targeting of the service selection and investments in production technology. Established in 1985, Oy Darekon Ltd is a contract manufacturer of medical equipment and industrial electronics. Darekon operates in accordance with the objectives of sustainable development. Last year the family company's net sales totalled almost EUR 41 million and it had a total of 280 employees. The company has three plants in Finland (Haapavesi, Klaukkala and Savonranta). Darekon has been growing throughout this millennium.

Startups and industrial companies meet at AlihankintaHEAT

AlihankintaHEAT, a networking event for industrial companies and startups, will take place on Tuesday 26 September. Now held for the second time, the event will fill Hall B with the stands of over twenty startups and partners and an interesting programme for the entire day from 9 am until 7 pm. The event is free for all trade fair visitors, kicking off with the opening of the Subcontracting Trade Fair and ending in an evening party. The HEAT topics will also be discussed in the new Heat Corner.

Subcontracting Trade Fair at Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre 26–28 September 2017. The event will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Held since 1988, the annual Subcontracting Trade Fair showcases Finnish industry and its leading companies. A total of 18,422 industry decision-makers and other experts attended the event last year. The main partners of Tampere Trade Fairs are the Technology Industries of Finland association, the Rubber Manufacturers' Association of Finland RMAF, the Finnish Plastics Industries Federation, and the Finnish Association of Purchasing and Logistics LOGY. AlihankintaHEAT is offered by Finland Events, the event unit of Tampere Trade Fairs, in cooperation with Rapid Action Group (RAG).
